Dead or Alive 2
Dead or Alive 2
We no longer stock Dead or Alive 2, but please click here to see our range of NetEnt slot games.
A deserted mining town, a ruined main street, a band of lawless bandits- it all sounds like a busman’s holiday to me. The Dead or Alive II slot delivers a hard as nails episode of Wild West gun-slinging at its rough and ready best. NetEnt might just get my cowboy vote with this edgy slot. There are more gun fights going off in the Narcos slot by the way (also by NetEnt) if this kind of game floats your boat.
A quick warm up of my gun finger had me mentally ready for the task ahead. There’s a motley gang of bandits to get the better of and I’m just the monkey to do it. Warm up my Stetson hat, I’m going in!
The Basics
The sharp eyed among you will have noted this game’s giveaway title. This game of Wild West danger and derring-do is the sequel to the original NetEnt game: Dead or Alive which was a slot smash success back in the day.
This episode has trio of free spins games that will have you facing down the Wilds and unlocking a virtual goldmine or falling foul of the odds. This games got more gizmos than the Luchadora slot from Thunderkick and that’s not easy! I can almost see the tumbleweed rolling across the dusty plains.
The Graphics
Dead or Alive II is a lean and mean lookin’ game. The graphics are so sharp that they could easily be on the silver screen as a animated western movie.
You’ll hear the sound of a revolver’s barrel clicking around as the reels turn backed up with the sound of guitars and gun shots- this is where you must hold you nerve, slot lovers. There’s a big game in town, and this town ain’t big enough for two monkeys.
The Play
Let’s take a closer look on those 3 rows, 5 reels and 9 pay-lines. Clamp down on that cheroot and here we go. 9 pay-lines is quite low for a NetEnt game- that’s even lower than their Imperial Riches slot machine which has 15 lines. That should give you a clue as to how this game plays (it’s high variance: less frequent, but higher than average wins).
If you capture five of the highest standard icons, the Sheriff’s gold star badge, you will fill your pockets to the tune of 1,000 coins. Other high scoring icons include a pistol and bullets, a law man’s hat, boots and a bottle of bourbon. I prefer malt myself but hey, who’s complaining? A metal-embossed Ace through 10 of the card deck makes up the lower value icons of the game. They look like they been hewn from ol’ Sheriff John’s spurs.
One of the great thing about this Wild West Wonder, is that there are not 1 but 5 different Wilds! These are represented by a selection of wrong ‘uns who are your adversaries. This dastardly crew are: Apache, Billy, Belle, Della and Jesse, of course. What? Were you expecting a Nigel?
The Wilds rule the reels and substitutes for all symbols, except the Scatter.
The Scatter icon is a pair of crossed guns and a cow’s skull. This beefy symbol could be worth a mint if you land 5 of them across the reels in the base game: there’s a 2500 coin boost coming your way if you manage this.
The Bonuses
If you can land three skull Scatters, you will head into the rewarding world of the free spins feature.
This feature is called the Old Saloon. During the spins any win is subject to a double multiplier and any Wilds that land reward you with an additional 5 spins. Hey ho, silver lining, as they say.
The High Noon feature reaches an even higher pitch of tempo and thrills. If you can land multiple Wilds on a reel there are rewards for you. Two Wilds on a reel will double your multiplier, while 3 Wilds on a single reel will deliver you triple multiplier. Now as a monkey who loves big numbers, I am all for it. At the end of the round all those multipliers are added together, which can net you some tidy sums. A feature for a queen, but we must keep her Majesty out of such matters.
Finally, if you get to grips with the Train Heist feature, you will be in a spot where each Wild you land pushes up your multiplier by 1 and rewards you with a single free spin. If you’re lucky and you get all the way up to a x16 multiplier then you also get a further bonus; a further 5 free games are added to your bag of loot.
Monkey Verdict
The Dead or Alive II slot is a high volatility slot which means, chaps and chapesses, that there could be big wins to be made for those who are fearless and ready to take on the bad guys.
Score 4.5 bananas
This game looks better than a bunch of Silk Stockings in Dodge City.
