If you are looking for new and improved Cluster Pays action, you will love Gemix 2 from Play’n GO. This is the design house behind games like Idol of Fortune slot and Book of Dead.

Played on a 7×7 grid, the game is the sequel to Gemix released back in 2014 – but this time you’ll be able to scoop wins of up to 7500x bet across four different worlds with four different reel guardians.

The Graphics

Set in a mystical world up high in the clouds with a fantasy/medieval theme, the characters in Gemix 2 are the same as in the original game; the miner, princess and wizard – but a handsome knight has also been introduced.

Gemix 2 Slot Game Play

The Gemix 2 slot is played out on the 7 x 7 grid – and the way to win is by creating clusters of at least 5x matching icons that touch either horizontally and/or vertically.

When matches have been made, the winning symbols will then disappear and make room for new icons to drop onto the reels from above.

Your reel icons are made up of multi-coloured gemstones in blue, cyan, purple, and green as the low-value icons. Plus a golden star, a red heart, an orange flower and a pink half-moon as the four premium symbols,

The Bonuses

Crystal Charge

To the right of the reels, you’ll see a meter – you need 25 symbols to fill it halfway. Manage this and you’ll be given one of these excellent reel modifiers.

Nova Blast
Explodes one symbol which transforms and destroys adjacent symbols.

Crystal Warp
A random symbol will be chosen and in all cases, it is turned into that icon.

Light Beam
A beam of light transforming any symbols it hits.

Chain Lightning
Will connect two corner symbols with a lightning bolt – all symbols in the crossfire will turn into one of the corner symbols.

Super Charge

If you collect the full fifty icons and fully charge the meter you’ll receive all four mini-features at once, along with a 2x your win multiplier that will increase on each winning cascade drop.

World Bonus

There are four worlds; the knight’s, miner’s, princess’ and wizard’s worlds. On every spin, you will see a set of blue positions making a pattern beneath the reel icons on your grid. Land a win on that position, and it will turn yellow.

If you succeed in making the whole pattern turn yellow, you’ll progress to the next world – your wins will also increase during the World Bonus feature.

World Wilds

In each world, its guardian will randomly you a rather excellent wild feature:

The Knight
He will give you one or two 2×2 Mega Wilds

The Dwarf
This small fellow will add up to ten wilds to the reels.

The Princess |
Will add a spreading wild onto the grid

The Wizard
This benevolent sorcerer will give you up to five sticky wilds

What is the Crystal Charge Meter?
If you manage to collect 25 or more winning symbols on a single Avalanche sequence, you will fill the Crystal Charge Meter to the right above the reel set. Once the Meter is full, one of four features will set off: Nova Blast, Crystal Warp, Light Beam or Chain Lightning.

The Monkey Verdict

In my humble opinion, the Gemix 2 slot is a very good sequel – Play’n GO has done a cracking job with this follow-up game.

Fans of the original will be right at home here, as not much has changed – instead, the game has been given an upgrade with better graphics and more features.

New players will like the high volatility (careful, though!) and the creative game mechanics.
