Montezuma Megaways
Montezuma Megaways
It’s time for an Aztec odyssey! A trip to Mexico will be our next adventure ino Slotland in this Megaways version of the Montezuma slot from 2014. Scientific Games have taken the Megaways mechanic that you´ll find on games like the Game of Thrones slot (243) and added some chilli powder!
Montezuma was a Tenochtitlan ruler during the height of the Aztec period and would doubtless be surprised to discover that 600 years later he’d be the theme of a slot game with 117,649 ways to win…
The Basics
Montezuma Megaways slot features the ‘Megaways’ random reel modifier that can give you thousands of extra ways to win. 117,649 of them in this game to be precise…Compare that to other games like the Hit it Hard slot from ELK Studios which has 5 pay-lines!
And it’s all thanks to a wheel that spins with 4 extra symbols atop the reels, plus the rather unusual 8,6,6,6,8-reel formation. As you’d expect this should there might be more chances to make some Monkey Money. It’s busier than Micro Knights when it flips into this mode! And that´s saying something.
The Graphics
Overall, the look and feel of this game isn’t too dissimilar to the design in of the first Montezuma slot – and like many games themed around the Aztecs, your reels are against a verdant rainforest backdrop with a rather relaxing soundtrack made up of cymbals gently chiming and the odd toot on the pan pipes.
Nothing to write home about, but not bad.
Montezuma Megaways Game Play
Montezuma Megaways slot is six-reel game with a maximum of 8 rows. Reels one and six have 8 rows, while the rest feature 6 rows. Meanwhile, the wheel at the top acts as yet another reel to add more paylines to proceedings.
Your Aztec-themed symbols on the reels include; a bare-chested Montezuma (I say!), his lady princess, what appears to be his head gear, an eagle, a golden mask and a serpent. The J, Q, K and A playing cards make up your lower value icons. And a quick FYI: Your game icons can land as both stacked and single in the base game play – excellent!
Your wild symbol here is the Pyramid is – but it will only land on the top wheel. It will do the usual job of replacing all other symbols in the game (except the Scatter) to help you make more combos. Finally, the golden Aztec Calendar is your Scatter symbol.
The Bonuses
Cascading Reels
Chaps, for those of you unfamiliar with the concept of cascading or avalanche reels, here’s a little tutorial: When a win is made, the symbols disappear, and new icons drop from above to fill their place. With a little luck, this can lead to even more winning combinations.
These drops keep on falling as you create consecutive wins, so you could potentially claim several payouts from just the bet. Hurrah and huzzah!
Montezuma Respin Wheel
On any non-winning spin, the extra reel wheel at the top of the game can randomly respin for free – to give you a chance for a new win. That Montezuma fellow is terribly generous!
Free Spins
To set off the Free Spins Bonus, you’ll need to land 3x or more of the Aztec Calendar Scatters anywhere on the reels. A wheel will now spin to determine the number of spins you will receive – there are up to 25 on offer. But that’s not all! Each spin also comes with win multipliers which increase by 1x with each consecutive win you make.
Lastly, if you land another 2x Calendar Scatters during bonus play, the multiplier wheel will appear once more and gift you extra multipliers of up to 100x your bet.
The Monkey Verdict
My dear chums, as you well know, I am not one to shy away from a high variance game and Montezuma Megaways slot certainly falls into that category. Get ready to spin for a while before you trigger off the Free Spins feature – as those Calendar Scatters can be rather elusive…
Good luck!
