Punk Rocker
Punk Rocker
This game is no longer available at Monkey Casino. Sorry about that chaps!
Why not try San Quentin xWays slot from Nolimit City instead?
Sex Pistols, The Clash, and The Damned. Mohicans and safety pins. Anarchy and loud guitars! This is the real deal, unlike those heavy metal clowns in the Twisted Sister slot (although that is a good game, I have to admit).
It might surprise you to know that the refined monkey sitting in front of you sipping tea from a china cup was in fact a punk fan, back in the day. As such, I am delighted to spin on the Punk Rocker slot!
Let’s head back to Carnaby Street in the late seventies shall we? It’s a long way from some of our other games like Wish Upon a Jackpot with Cinderella and that overweight fairy. That’s more old Compton Street.
The Basics
The Punk Rocker slot from Nolimit City takes us back to that time when anarchy and lawlessness prevailed. And a lot of hairspray. Cans and cans of the stuff to be precise. It also come with free spins, locking wilds, up to 46,656 pay-lines and some rather unique graphics. And, as one of the newer slot providers, I’m keen to see what Nolimit City has got up its studded denim jacket sleeve….
FYI compadres: You can play Punk Rocker slots for free right here, just sign up with us to access the demo games. I think it’s a nice idea to take a slot for a quick spin before you part with your cash.
The Developer
So, who exactly are Nolimit City? Well, hang on a second and I’ll tell you…
Nolimit City were founded in 2013, and it won’t surprise you to know that these games makers are based in Stockholm (the Swedes often do it best dear chums, like NetEnt, ELK Studios and Play’n GO).
It’s also quite a small company but that hasn’t stopped them from bringing out over 20 truly excellent online slots including mega volatile Deadwood and my personal favourite Ice Ice Yeti slot.
The Graphics
Punk Rocker is set in London in the late 70s – peek behind the reels and you’ll see Big Ben in the background and some Bobbies. You’ll also find faded well-worn posters either side of the reels, plus a very British red telephone box on the right.
There are also electric guitars on either side, and at the top of your screen the London underground sign making up the game logo. As a Londoner myself once from Earl’s Court, I must admit I love the artwork; it fits perfectly with the anti-establishment theme.
As you’d expect, banging punk music accompanies your game play. It’s like 1977 all over again! But best of all, after a non-win re-spin the word ‘bollocks’ or ‘shit’ splashes up on your screen in true punk style.
Never mind the language. Or if you are really unlucky Her Majesty will pop with a no-win slogan! This tickled my giblets immensely. Although I imagine the Queen would not be pleased. I can almost hear her say, ‘We are not amused…’ God Save the Queen, as Johnny Rotten used to say.
Punk Rocker Slot Game Play
The Punk Rocker slot has 5 reels, 3 rows and starts with 243 ways to win, although this can expand up to 46,656 win ways during the bonus feature. That blows away a more traditional game like Super Fire 7s with its 40 pay-lines! You can play from as little as £/€/$ 0.25 all the way up to £/€/$100 per spin in your local currency. Which means there’s a bet range available for all kind of players.
Your symbols on the reels are a selection of famous people given the full-on punk treatment with neon mohawks, chains and piercings, these include Winston Churchill, the Mona Lisa, an absolutely charming chimpanzee dressed up like the Queen while giving players the finger, Albert Einstein and Elton John, plus the Anarchy sign, a guitar peddle, a Molotov cocktail, a knuckle duster and a pair of DM boots as your lower value icons.
I am also pleased to report that there isn’t a single playing card on the pay table which makes a refreshing change.
The Wild icon in the game is the skull holding a flaming Molotov in its bony chops, and when it lands it will turn the positions above it into wilds, too. While the emblematic red, white and blue London Underground symbol will make up the bonus icon.
You’ll also see some expanding X-Ways symbols that land from time to time, but more on those below…
The Bonuses
X-Ways
The X-Ways mystery symbol contains multiple copies of the same symbol and can potentially expand your reels up to 20 symbols high – creating some mega wins! It also contributes to the 46,656 ways to win on offer if it lands in the Free Spins Features.
Riot Re-spins
Landing 2x of the bonus symbols and you’ll get a Riot Re-spin. Now both scatters become locked wilds and the sixth reel (that was covered in blue police tape) opens up to increase your winning potential to give you 729 ways to win. Hit a big win during this cool mini feature and your Molotov Wild Skulls will don a Bearskin hat and red uniform and a phone will ring declaring London Calling.
Top job my Swedish friends! Simply genius!
Anarchy & Civil War Free Spins
There are 2 different free spins bonuses on offer here. Land 3x Scatters for 8 Anarchy Free Spins and 4x Scatters for 8 Civil War Free Spins.
During both of the bonuses, reel 6 will be unlocked to give you 729 ways to win and you’ll also be awarded some jumping wilds – 3 in Anarchy Spins and 4 in Civil War Free Spins. These change position on each spin and can give you the following reel enhancers:
- Wild Multipliers – This can add a multiplier of up to 25x on to a jumping wild. Excellent entertainment!
- Expanding Reels – Your Reels become 6 rows high creating 46,656 ways to win. Yippee!
- 4 position x-Ways – Mystery symbols are added to the game play of 4x rows high
- Extra Free Spins – Bag another 3 free spins. Excellent news!
- Jumping Wild – Add another jumping wild is added to the reels.
You will see these different modifiers running along the top of the reels as a London Tube! Very clever indeed. Land a few of them in combination and the pay outs can be quite tremendous.
The Variance
The game comes with a pretty high level of volatility – and a top prize potential of a whopping great 15,000x your stake. But, what does ‘highly volatile’ that mean, exactly? Well, simply put – in Punk Rocker you will often go for many spins without a win in sight. However, the slot comes with a x25 win multiplier in the free spin bonuses that could see a single spin award you an absolute mega wedge all at once.
And the game proves it’s a high variance slot by giving you the chance to splash out on a vast sum of cash for a special bonus round where you can trigger off all the bonus features at once. I say!
It’s called the Buy Bonus feature – although sadly, it’s not available in all countries. Click on the gold star to the left of the reels to get started. It will set you back 80x your bet for the Anarchy Free Spins… Pricey indeed.
But is it worth it? It’s up to you to decide.
The Monkey Verdict
‘…..I wannabe, ……anarchy’.
Compadres, I really enjoyed playing Punk Rocker slot. It is quite literally loaded with lucrative features and the graphics are a lot of fun. Those Riot Re-spins land frequently keeping your balance ticking over and the X Ways mechanism is a unique way to create wins that I haven’t seen before.
Understandably, it’s the 25x multiplier that has got people talking as it really can lead to some astronomical wins, but I found the other bonus modifiers to be profitable as well.
Nolimit City have fast become my new favourite games provider, and here they bring a combination of high volatility, on point design and some really engaging gameplay.
My verdict: This slot is an absolute delight to play! Spin like a punk rocker, now! (Or else).
