Rage To Riches
Rage To Riches
A monster-themed game is always a welcome sight to me – and Rage To Riches slot from Play N Go (those lovely people behind Ankh of Anubis and others) with its nod to Godzilla, King Kong and other Japanese giant monsters looks like it could be an excellent release. Let’s find out.
The Basics
Are you ready for some potentially monster-sized wins? With 50 free spins and a bonus feature offering up 100x times your stake, this arcade- game inspired slot has a lot to get excited about.
The Graphics
It’s all about the big city destruction here chums! Behind the reels you’ll see 5 tall buildings which are destined to be obliterated in one of the bonus games. The design is top notch, in particular the soundtrack that accompanies your spins which is the wail of sirens and the bleep of wins that remind you of old Nintendo games! That big ol´ape looks like he´d be at home in the Punk Rocker slot from Nolimit City games.
The Play
Rage To Riches slot has 5 reels 3 rows and 20 pay-lines. That´s half as many as games like the Gold Cash slot and we´d say it´s about average on that front. Bets start at 0.20p and go up to a maximum of 100.00 per spin.
Cascading Reels
Your reel positions are made of concrete blocks which fall into place on each spin, and every time you land a combo the winning symbols crumble away, leaving space for new icons to drop in. This reel arrangement will create new wins and this excellent little process will continue until no more wins can be made.
Plus, each consecutive win increases the multiplier – 1x, 2x, 3x and then 5x.
It’s pays aplenty my fine friends!
Your reel symbols include the usual playing card icons 10, J, Q, K & A (but with a cool graffiti upgrade) as your low value symbols, plus the 3 razor-toothed monsters the crazed werewolf, the wrathful lizard monster, and the giant angry ape.
The Rage To Riches logo is Wild in this slot and will substitute for all other symbols except the Scatter. The Scatter icon itself is represented by the scantily-clad blonde lady drying her hair. I say!
The Bonuses
Bonus Stars
To the left of the reels you’ll see a space for five stars; each time you land 10, J, Q, K and A from left to right on the reels, one of these spaces will fill up. When all 5 are full you’ll set off a rather cool little bonus.
Now you must pick your favourite Rage to Riches monster (obviously I chose the irate primate) and select the buildings you want him to destroy for coins – while he’s being attacked rather viciously by fighter planes the whole time. Poor chap.
The feature is over when all the buildings are rubble or the monster has been defeated. There are wins of up to 100x your total bet on offer. Spiffing!
Free Spins
Land 3x of damsel in distress Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels and you’ll receive 10 free spins (although there are 50 if you can keep re-triggering them!) There’s a guaranteed win on every three spins to add to the fun – how terribly kind of you, Play’NGo – and the consecutive wins multiplier goes from x2 to x10 in this round!
Gamble Feature
If you’re feeling particular plucky compadres – you can gamble your last win by clicking the ‘Gamble’ button below the reels. Double or quadruple your win by guessing the correct colour or suit of the next card drawn. But remember: guess incorrectly and you’ll lose the lot.
The Monkey Verdict
Rage To Riches slot is very entertaining. The excellent graphics, range of bonus features and regular (if small) base game wins are enough to keep you playing for a while – but, as you’d expect from a high variance game, you may have to chase the bonuses.
If you are a fan of retro video games, you simply must give Rage To Riches a go!
