The Graphics

There’s no mistaking the budget that’s been spanked on this tasty little number. Of all the blockbuster movie games we have on the site like the Planet of the Apes slot and Bridesmaids, T2 has too be one of my favourites. The look of the game is inspired heavily by the futuristic movie of the same name. For the hard core movie fans there’s even live action clips and animations including the now immortal line “I’ll be back!”

The reels are backed by a metallic machine engine while the movie’s key characters are captured in photos on the reels.
The soundtrack you’ll hear while you dial up the world’s future on the reels is also dramatic and well worth turning up the volume on your devices for.

The Play

The Terminator II slot is played out over 3 rows, 5 reels and an initial 243 ways to win. It’s “no problemo” to play this futuristic slot rampage.
Movie lovers will be pleased to see that the top scoring icons are the main characters. At the very top of the food chain is the stony faced terminator model 101 (the Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 Series 800 for you Terminator nerds out there), played by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Future robot-bashing rebel leader, and mankind’s only hope, is the second most highly prized icon in the shape of young John Connor. Then there’s that mean dude, the T-1000 which is the liquid metal high tech cyborg that is on a mission from the future to destroy John Connor and cement Skynet’s dominance over the planet.

Sarah Connor, the mother of the hero leader, is here too, to give the human race a chance, although she’s gone a little loca in this outing. A T-800 Cyborg is the last of the higher scoring icons with its metallic skull glinting nastily on the reels. That’s Arnold basically with all his skin melted off.

The four suits of cards in metallic outline are the lower value icons of the game.

The game’s Wild is the fiery T2 logo which substitutes for all icons expect the game’s Scatter, a blue orb of electricity with the silhouette of a new cyborg arriving.

The Bonuses

Try and make winning combinations in the base game, and keep your eyes and ears open for a smart little bonus feature that can randomly activate. This is the T-800 Vision feature which switches you into T-800 cyborg mode: a red tinted overlay with a bunch of information scrolling across it (a useful tool for the old mission bag I’d say). At random a target will travel across the reels landing on high value icons and awarding prizes.

If you’ve got your lucky Terminator pants on, you might land a Scatter icon on the reels in the  T-800 mode and this will zap you into the Free Spins game. The reels go super techy and expand, to add an extra row, boosting the ways to win to 1024! Hasta la Vista Babies!

3 or more Scatters will net you ten free spins which are counted down on the left of the reels. During this mode the T-1000 cyborg will merge into different characters on the reels to boost your line win. The free spins game can’t be re-triggered, however.

Monkey Verdict

Microgaming has created a game that embraces the Terminator film franchise and does justice to that chilling cyborg with the lifeless eyes. The look, feel and sound of this game is hard to fault. Loaded with clever expanding reels and the ways to win engine, how will you resist saying, “I’ll be back?”
